Valentine Trip Idea: Monarch Butterflies in Pacific Grove

I wrote about these lovelies back in October when I was reminded that they were arriving north to winter. Now is the time of year when you can see the beautiful Monarch butterflies that have migrated to Pacific Grove, California.

The city has a sanctuary of trees for these butterflies with lots of rules to keep people from harming them. They fly 2500 miles to come here and stay for the winter. Nice! In February they begin their mating season before leaving again. If you are thinking about Valentine's Day, this would be a very romantic trip.

Pacific Grove and the Monterey Peninsula has lots of places to stay from motels, hotels to Bed and Breakfasts. Email us at everywheretravel@mac.com if you need recommendations or have other questions.
