Hmmm cheese

Cowgirl Creamery rocks my world. Stop by their space in the Ferry Building in San Francisco and taste any number of their signature cheeses. They will slip you a slice on a piece of wax paper. Heaven.

If you find yourself taking a drive north, continue on until you hit Pt. Reyes Station.

When you visit the creamery, you can observe cheesemaking in action through a glassed-in viewing area. Afterward, you'll want to visit their cheese counter to taste a variety of great artisan cheeses. Their cheese mongers will be glad to answer your questions and provide suggestions. In addition to delicious cheese, they stock cheese books, cheese knives, cheese boards, and special condiments to accompany your cheese.

The barn, located at 80 4th Street in Point Reyes Station, is open Wednesday through Sunday, from 10am to 6pm. Tours are held every Friday at 11:30 a.m. The tour consists of a 25-minute presentation, followed by a tasting of Cowgirl Creamery cheeses. The charge for the tour is $3 per person and reservations are recommended.

I recommend taking a picnic once you are there. Otherwise the main street also has a couple of proper bars to grab a pint if you prefer.
